St Vincent de Paul

Our Lady of Kāpiti Conference

We work without judgment to:

  • alleviate poverty with care and dignity
  • help whanau/families reach self-sufficiency
  • support those in need through advocacy
  • support Young Vinnies in our schools
  • collaborate with other groups providing assistance.

Thanks to you

Thank you for your continuing support. Without your prayers, financial support and contributions of food and furniture, we could not provide free support to those where a real need is identified.

With your help, the Our Lady of Kāpiti Conference provides:

Food for those in need

Boxes of food are being delivered regularly to those in need across Kāpiti.

We thank those who leave food at the church in our collection baskets as these are important additions to food that we get from supermarkets, and show support across our parish.

We also work with L’Arche, Kāpiti,  to grow vegetables sustainably and distribute these to various organisations and people in need.

If you know a person or family in need of food, please contact us at:
          Ph:028 423 1838, or Parish @ 902 8515, or email: svdp.olok@gmail.com

Furniture and household goods

You have helped us provide furniture, whiteware and bedding for those identified as being in need. These have been given to families on the Kāpiti Coast or else sent to SVdP outlets in Porirua and Wellington. We also cooperate with Birthright here in Kāpiti to ensure that donated goods get to those who need them.

We welcome good quality beds and bedding, furniture and whiteware. There is a continuing need for good quality woollen blankets, many being turned into cot blankets for the newborn.

Other support

We also help those who need other forms of support, or are seeking assistance, by providing care in a practical manner that promotes human dignity and justice. This includes working with OrangeSky NZ to provide laundry and shower facilities to the homeless in Kāpiti. We are also in partnership with KCDC, Ministry of Social Development, the Salvation Army, Kāpiti Impact Hub and Hora Te Pai to advocate for people and whanau seeking support or accommodation.

We continue to need your support

Through prayer, donated food and financial donations. Donations can be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul, ANZ Account 06-0730-0297571-00.

Receipts that enable a tax credit will be supplied at the end of the financial year unless requested earlier.
